Sr. Materials Engineer – CAE Material Technical Specialist – Adhesive & Joining Advanced Material Technology

General Motors 

 

Niat Rahman is serving as a Material CAE Lead for adhesive and joining in GM. He has more than twelve years of automotive industry experience within the Virtual Design Development and Validation (VDDV) domain. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana focusing on adhesive joint failure characterization. His M.S. degree is in Mechanical Engineering from the Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan with a research focus on adhesive joining mechanical property characterization. Niat’s current role comprises evaluating the feasibility of using the adhesive joint for the lightweight vehicle, create GM standard procedure on developing the adhesive Material Data Card (MDC), and validate the MDC supplied by the vendors.
